Burnt and Crispy!

So many times we struggle with feelings of overwhelm, feeling detached from our work and also what is happening in our life, difficulty concentrating, some physical symptoms (headaches or muscle pain) and feel an overall sense of blah. Welcome to burnout!

There are many factors that can contribute to burnout. It is important to evaluate what is happening in your life. There can be inside and outside forces that are contributing to this feeling. It is equally important to look at who is impacting your life to add to these already heavy feelings. Sitting in that of analyzing is not always fun, but there is great benefit in doing so!

It is also important to know that while exploring what external forces impact one’s burnout, there can be internal factors as well. Talking through expectations that were set forth by your family, your current relationship, friendships, and what responsibilities you place on yourself are great places to start.

Some of these internal and external forces can include:

  • Expectations of self

  • Poor boundary setting

  • Family roles and expectations

  • Work responsibilites

  • Lack of social support

  • Unrealistic deadlines

The solution to burn out is to be implement self-care activities, setting boundaries, ensuring adequate sleep, delegating tasks, etc. It will take some time to better understand yourself and what leads to burnout, but you can do it!
