About
Jessica Alexander has been providing therapeutic services to adults, children, families, adolescents, and facilitating groups since 2011. She is licensed in the state of Georgia as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Her professional experiences include working in different levels of care such as residential, inpatient hospital settings, PHP/IOP programs, outpatient therapy, and in-home treatment. Jessica’s most recent experience has been working with primary addiction diagnoses with co-occurring mental health diagnoses as the Clinical Director of an outpatient PHP program.
Jessica enjoys discussing topics related to self-esteem, family dynamics, relationships, addiction, and mental health symptoms (anxiety, depression, etc.). Throughout the years, she has gained experience working with all age groups from children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. She is well versed in providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families. Jessica feels that all families have the ability to grow and change out of old family patterns by developing a healthier way to interact and connect.
Jessica’s journey to becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist started in high school after her parents shared they were getting a divorce. Through her own experiences with different family dynamics shifting, Jessica felt a calling to work with people who are struggling with their own family dynamics and the mental health symptoms that come with all of those changes. Throughout her career, she has continued to follow that passion of helping people heal by growing in her own experience with different treatment problems and challenging herself to learn more about her own story and new interventions to try in therapy with her clients.
Two Roads Therapy is a space where Jessica hopes she can bring people to a place of addressing any negative patterns that prevent each person from living their most fulfilled lives. Your therapeutic experiences will feature highs and lows. It is likely that there will be times when, as a client, you feel proud of the work you are doing, satisfied with your therapeutic relationship, and excited about the ways in which you are growing and changing. It is also equally as likely and appropriate that there may be times when you are feeling more sad, angry, scared, or confused than you were when you started therapy. It is often normal to expect things to get worse before they get better as you begin talking about, thinking about, and processing feelings that have been shoved down and pushed aside. Jessica highly encourages her clients to speak with her on how they are feeling and share their emotions and experiences honestly and openly.
When not providing therapy, you might find Jessica watching the Atlanta Braves as she is a huge baseball fan. You can also see her spending time in nature hiking with her husband and two pups. Her passion for people is a driving force and she loves to learn about others. She loves being creative and oftentimes, will incorporate this into her sessions, especially when working with children or teens.
Jessica received her undergraduate degree in Sociology from Kennesaw State in 2010 with concentrations in medical sociology and social change and her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Valdosta State University in 2012.
