Practicing Gratitude Part I
Did you know that expressing gratitude has been shown to lower people's depression and anxiety? It is creating new pathways for your brain to see the good things that are happening in your life versus staying stuck or fixated on the negative things. Gratitude can feel overwhelming at times, especially when you are in a tough or challenging spot in life. The goal here is not to minimize what you are experiencing, but instead to allow for other perspectives to be brought into account as well.
Gratitude does not mean that you have to have the fanciest car or the biggest house. Gratitude can be those things, but it can also be being grateful for a warm house. It can be fun plans with your friends planned for later in the week. It can also be that you are healthy and have the ability to move your body.
There is no right or wrong way to practice gratitude.
What are 1-2 things that you are grateful for today? Share that with someone and see what they share with you!
